Used for centuries, and still unmatched in comfort and durability. But sheepskin doesn’t belong in a washing machine—and that’s a good thing.
How to care for sheepskin:
- Shake out regularly to remove dust, hair, and fluff
- Air outside often to refresh and deodorize
- Spot clean gently with a damp cloth and natural wool shampoo
- Use a sheepskin brush every now and then to restore fluff and bounce
Want to refresh it naturally?
Skip the chemicals. Here’s our go-to DIY low-tox routine:
Step 1: Generously sprinkle baking soda over the sheepskin
Step 2: Let it sit overnight to absorb oils + smells
Step 3: Shake it out thoroughly the next day
Step 4: Mix equal parts water + apple cider vinegar, add a few drops of essential oil (pine, cedarwood, or juniper = dreamy)
Step 5: Lightly mist the hide—don’t soak
Step 6: Let it air dry completely (no direct sun or heaters)
Step 7: Brush it gently once dry
It’s simple, effective, and keeps your sheepskin looking and smelling like nature intended.
What to avoid:
- Machine washing or tumble drying
- Soaking or wringing
- Long exposure to direct heat or sun
Reminder: Sheepskin is naturally antibacterial and self-cleaning. Let it do its magic.
